ln 1990, a group of ex-Omega Leos got together
with the intention of forming a Lions Club which will admit both men and
women as members. The proposal met with some initial objection from Lions
Club of Kuantan which suggested that the men join them and the ladies, the
Lioness Club of Kuantan. But we stood firm with our decision and finally
Lions Club of Kuantan relented and gave us the green light to go ahead with
the formation of the club.
Thus, with the sponsorship of Lions Club of
Kuantan, the Lions Club of lndera Mahkota was ‘born’ on 3rd of
January 1991 with 29 chartered members.
The chartered key officers were:-

Treasurer: Lion Yip How Kit
Much water has flowed under the bridge since
then and our Club has grown by leaps and bounds to be where it is today. We
celebrated our 14th anniversary earlier this year.
Meeting many challenges through the years, our
club have emerged much stronger and more dynamic than ever.
We have a current membership of 31 with 9
chartered members still playing an active role in the club. With regular
recruitment of new blood, we believe these service-minded individuals will
contribute lots of fresh ideas and bring positive changes to the club and in
the process keep our club’s banner flying proudly in our community.
